Upcoming Changes in SAT Test 2016

Upcoming Changes in SAT Test 2016 Yes, SAT has hit the headlines recently with its redesigned test patterns for 2016 Test. Whether it will reach out to its expected goals or not, the fact remains that the upcoming changes in SAT 2016 are an attempt to    align the high school course ware with the    college one as professed by the authorities. The question now in our minds is what are those rocking changes that are going to be implemented in this remodeled Standardized Test with effect from 2016? Scoring- Instead of the current 2400 scoring points, now you have to sit for 1600, having the essay section as optional one. Well, that again raises the question-what are the sections you have to prep for â€"Reading, Math and Writing with optional essay writing. Reading and writing sections  you have to expect from a broader range of disciplines henceforth for your reading questions. You get questions from disciplines like Science, History, Social Studies and Literature hereon. You need to give evidences for your answer choices for reading and writing questions to justify your answers. You have to consider the context of the words for vocabulary and it comes out of your habitual interest in vocabulary instead of just memorizing to increase your word power. It means that there would be a lessened focus on obscure vocabulary. Math section- Math questions would cover more of Data analysis, Algebra, real world problem solving and advanced concepts in the revamped SAT Test. Your usage of the calculator will be minimized and there is no need for the use of calculator for every question. No penalizing for wrong answers- your wrong answers would not be marked negative and you do not lose points for them. Optional essay- If you prefer to write an essay, it will be a separate score from the rest of the test.  You would be given a passage and  you have to attempt an essay spotlighting the argumentative design, evidences given for the argument and the ideas styled there.    It is your analytical skills which are tested then and there. Scheduled time- It is 3 hours’ duration with an additional time of 50 minutes for essay to complete the Test when you sit for it. A passage from America’s founding documents-  You would find a passage like The Declaration of Independence in every SAT test hereafter. It is all with the purpose of aligning the education you learn at high school with what you are going to do in college, College Board has embarked upon these changes in its test design. Following are some of the reasons for this remodeled test pattern for SAT 2016. To give more focus on questions that would attach to the students’ high school education.  It is a general view that SAT questions are detached from their high school learning and hence these changes.  Moreover, it is felt that more consideration is given to academic grades and ranks than standardized test scores. To  create  still   more opportunities for students to seek college admissions through   improved standardized test scores  with more focus on the practical side of answering the questions To increase the students ‘interest in taking SAT for college admission  , since there are more ACT takers and less SAT takers   of late To encourage those schools for taking up  SAT- schools which prefer test optional policies and do not go in for SAT taking To make students more equipped with focused, open and useful test design to face college courses with practical analyses and applications Ideas for Your Prep Yep, everything takes time and this new wave of SAT also will take time to manifest itself. Though at present, test sample questions would come for your perusal in the near future, you have to wait for proper prep channels with a focus on the changed patterns and desired study material for the same. Anyhow, your concentration on Math, reading skills and writing skills is the targeted potential for you to score high in the redesigned SAT and you have to look for more practical side of attempting the questions with a penchant for exhibiting your analytical skills.   It would be all good and safe for you to put your heart and mind in intense prep for Math concepts as they have been designed with an aim to prep you for your career and college courses. Here on, you need to list out words that are widely used in your workplaces and classroom atmosphere to appear for SAT vocabulary test. Likewise, Math concepts also demand specific attention in certain areas like Algebra, which have more bearing towards college study course and your career afterwards. The College Board has given you solid two years   to understand the shift in the design and necessary methods you have to adopt in your test prep. Your focus is narrowed upon the key concepts that link you to your college study and life afterwards. Hence, take a look at all real world applications and content related to it to excel in the ongoing test in 2016 for SAT. The College Board has announced free test prep services for the test takers along with providing ample time for your prep. They are coming out with the specifications in changes in SAT Test on April16 for the good use of the test takers. Anyhow, test prep is a compulsory factor which cannot be denied by anyone, if you wish to score decently in SAT Test. You need to get guidelines for your test prep and practice well beforehand. Same way, your attention to your high school work for high ranks and premium grades would definitely boost your chances. It would be good for you, if you prop up your prep with the guidance of leading websites like Tutor Pace to gain exact insight into what the oncoming SAT Test demands from you.

7 great ideas for outdoor learning

7 great ideas for outdoor learning All children can benefit greatly from spending time in the natural environment. Any learning that is done outdoors will support the development of healthy and active lifestyles whilst offering children the opportunity to express themselves freely and improve their physical state. Outdoor learning offers children the chance to have hands-on contact with the natural world whilst also having direct contact with the different kinds of weather. Learning outside will nurture a child's creativity and develop their imaginations as well as enhancing their personal and social skills, enhancing their mental and physical health and increasing their overall awareness. Here at First Tutors, we have come up with 7 great ideas for outdoor learning to inspire both you and your child and enjoy some quality time together: 1. Visit a zoo As a parent one of my favourite things is our family days out to a zoo with my children. Watching the amazement in their eyes as they encounter different animals and point things out is truly inspiring. There are countless benefits of taking children to a zoo aside from the obvious family bonding time. Children will enhance their language development by learning new words and concepts as well as become aware of the environment and environmental issues. They will also benefit from the physical exercise as zoos normally need a few good hours of walking about. Many zoos also offer hands-on experiences such as feeding a particular animal and there are also usually educational talks which will boost your child's curiosity and increase their knowledge. 2. Explore nature in the forest or garden Exploring nature is a fun and educational way to spend some time with your child. Whether it be in your back garden, a local park or in a nearby forest children can spend the time searching for different kinds of plants and shrubs or examining the different kinds of bugs they find along the way. Setting challenges such as how many different kinds of bugs they can find and talking about them, or how many butterflies they can catch in a net (making sure of course they are careful and always let the butterfly fly free). You can then get them to look up some interesting facts about the things they saw when they get home or make a dried flower book as a fun learning activity. 3. Chalk or sand art We all know the huge benefits children can reap from creating their own art. Aside from relieving stress it encourages creative thinking, boosts self-esteem and provides them with a sense of self-achievement. Simply taking some chalk and encouraging your child to draw on different surfaces outdoors or taking different instruments to the beach and watching them design different pictures in the sand are great ways of encouraging you child to express themselves through art. Taking photographs of their finished masterpieces and keeping a scrapbook is a great idea and will also keep your child stimulated, building their confidence as their skills improve. 4. Magnifying the natural world Allowing children to see the world through a magnifying glass can change the way they see things. Magnifying glasses are available for all ages and there are plenty of things to look at in a garden, on a beach or in a park. Whether it be examining the lines or fine hairs on leaves, the intricate flower parts or the detail of a bugs body, your child will have plenty to talk about, increasing their imagination and vocabulary. You could also have them try to catch different insects and place them in a container so that they can examine them more closely. There are many different kinds of bugs and insects in any garden and I'm sure your child will have plenty of fun both trying to find and catch them and then examine them. 5. Gardening Children can learn a great deal from growing things. Gardening is a fun, healthy activity for children that will see them develop new skills whilst learning about nature and science. Gardening has a large variety of different tasks that children can take on, from planting seeds to watering and weeding. Encourage your child to choose something they would like to plant and to make sure they keep track of it's progress and look after it. Keeping a diary of the progress their plant makes on a daily or weekly basis will see your child grow alongside their plant, developing their skills and enhancing their knowledge. They will learn to be responsible for the caring of their plants whilst learning to understand about cause and effect. 6. Den building Building a den with your child is a fantastic way for encouraging their imagination and creating their own space. Den building is a challenging and fun way of building children's physical and mental skills. A child's den is great for sharing with their friends or siblings and enhances their imaginations as they act out stories or fairy tales. Building a den in your garden using as many natural resources such as twigs, branches and rocks also enhances your child's interaction and understanding of the natural world. 7. Weather walks In the UK we are lucky enough to experience all of the different seasons at various times of the year. Whether it be rain, snow, sleet, sunshine, wind or just plain old cloudiness, the English weather is definitely unpredictable. A great idea for outdoor learning with your child is to explore the different weather and seasons. On a rainy day, put your wellies on and a mac and go for a walk in the forest, on the beach or through the high-street. Then on a sunny, windy or cloudy day do the same and ask your child to note differences they find in the different places you have visited. Visit windmills or look for the different bugs that come out on the different days. Encourage your child to take photographs and keep a diary of all the things they notice when out on the walks. Weather walking will encourage your child to collect evidence by making observations and improve their investigative skills. They will also learn to communicate their findings and build their confidence. To conclude Outdoor learning has a world of benefits including decreasing stress levels, increasing motivation and creativity, developing knowledge, long-term memory building, building social and communication skills and of course family bonding. With so many different activities for children to experience outdoors try to incorporate some learning at every available opportunity.

However, language families are actually just formed of languages that share a common ancestor.Related languages are also usually close geographically, though that isnt always the case.Due to their shared origins, languages within the same family often possess something called lexical similarity. Lexical similarity is a measure of how much vocabulary two languages share. This can also lead to mutual intelligibility, which occurs when a speaker of one language can understand a speaker of another language with little effort. Many similar languages have some degree of mutual intelligibility, which can aid significantly in  learning grammar  and  overcoming the language barrier. If youre learning a language, you might also consider learning a language similar to your target language since they have so much in common. Why Is It Useful to Be Aware of Similar Languages? One reason its useful to be aware of similar languages is because you may actually be able to understand one language by speaking another. You might even be able to do some language exchange right off the bat without knowing much about the similar language.Additionally, you may have an easier time learning a similar language once you know its cousin. Since similar languages often share some grammar rules and vocabulary, you may already know key details, so its like getting a running start on the road to fluency. Finally, being aware of similar languages will help you understand more about the roots of the language. Romance languages include French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian. Yes, Romanian, though geographically distant, is related to these other Romance languages. The degree of mutual intelligibility varies greatly between language pairs. The most mutually intelligible pair is Spanish and Portuguese. In some cases, TV stations dont even translate between the two languages, instead assuming that Spanish-speaking audiences would understand Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking audiences would understand Spanish.Per haps the most notable difference between the two languages is in pronunciation.Other Romance languages also have some degree of mutual intelligibility. On the Romance Languages Mutual Intelligibility  notes additional similarities between Italian and Spanish. All in all, the article declares Spanish particularly intelligible to speakers of other Romance languages.Romanian is the most dissimilar from its linguistic siblings, making it more difficult for speakers of other Romance languages to understand.Based on comparing a word list between languages, The Romance Languages  asserts that many of the Romance languages are more similar than you might think. There are many look-alike words between the languages. This includes 70 percent of the words between Italian and Romanian and a whopping 89 percent of words between Spanish-Portuguese and Italian-French.If you want to see the similarities for yourself, you can compare vocabularies side by side with ielanguages.coms Romance Languages vocabulary lists.ielanguages.com is a great resource for taking advantage of similar languages, as youll find tutorials for the Romance languages as well as several others that well discuss later in this post. Some of these tutorials are even paired together so you can learn two similar languages simultaneously (e.g. Learn French and Spanish Together). You can also get language tutorial e-books covering everything from comprehensive grammar rundowns to informal and spoken language. Basically, if youre looking to become multilingual, ielanguages.com should be your first stop.Similar Germanic LanguagesThe Germanic language family covers geography in Central through Northern Europe. They all stem from the Proto-Germanic language spoken around 500 BC in Northern Europe.Germanic languages arent as mutually intelligible as Romance languages. Some northern and southern dialects of German arent even mutually intelligible. While the degree of mutual intelligibility is significantly less than t hat of Romance languages,  German, English, Dutch and Afrikaans do have some overlap, particularly in writing.  This group of languages can also be called West Germanic.Since Afrikaans is derived from Dutch, it should perhaps come as no surprise that these two languages are largely mutually intelligible. Though only considered partially mutually intelligible in written form, German and Dutch do also have similarities. You can see for yourself by perusing ielanguages.coms Germanic Languages comparative vocabulary lists. There are also some surprising similarities between German and English, like sentence structure and word order. So while Germanic languages dont share much mutual intelligibility, they still share some vocabulary and grammar rules that make them similar.Similar Scandinavian LanguagesThough technically considered a Northern Germanic group, Scandinavian languages are much more similar to one another than they are to other Germanic languages.Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and Icelandic are all considered Scandinavian languages. However, while Danish, Norwegian and Swedish are fairly closely linked, Icelandic is more distant. The Nordic Council notes that while theres some mutual intelligibility, this seems to vary a great deal between groups of speakers. For instance, young Norwegians are able to understand more Scandinavian languages due to their familiarity with dialects. Young Danes, on the other hand, have much greater difficulty understanding other Scandinavian languages.Again, you can see the similarities between languages for yourself at ielanguages.coms Scandinavian Languages comparative vocabulary lists. Youll note that many phrases are nearly identical.Similar Slavic LanguagesThe Slavic language family is a large group of languages spread through Eastern and Central Europe. The language group is thought to have originated in the Early Middle Ages from the Proto-Slavic language. These include Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Polish, Bulgarian, Serb ian, Croatian, Bosnian, Slovene, Macedonian, Czech and Slovak. These languages are further broken down into subgroups:The East group includes Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian. The West group includes Czech, Slovak and Polish. The South group includes Bulgarian, Macedonian and the Serbo-Croatian languages of Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian.Within each subgroup, theres at least partial mutual intelligibility, though theres not usually mutual intelligibility across subgroups. For instance, a Russian speaker may understand Ukrainian, but he/she is less likely to understand Czech. That being said, theres a lot of overlap in vocabulary even across groups. Wikipedias Slavic vocabulary chart shows this quite clearly.Mutual intelligibility is quite common within language subgroups. For instance, Serbian, Croatian, Montenegrin and Bosnian are so similar that theyre often lumped together as one language: Serbo-Croatian. According to writer and linguist Robert Lindsay,  Serbo-Croatian is also parti ally mutually intelligible with other languages, most notably Macedonian.Similarly, Bulgarian is quite mutually intelligible with Macedonian.Other pairings with a high degree of mutual intelligibility include Czech-Slovak, Russian-Belarusian and Russian-Ukrainian.The Slavic language family is quite large, but theres a lot of mutual intelligibility within it. If you learn Slavic languages, even if theyre in different subgroups, youre bound to notice similarities. While they may seem similar, each language is still unique and worth learning. If you pair a similar language with your target language, though, itll make learning them so much easier than learning two unrelated languages!

The Biggest Challenge of President Obamas Second Term

The Biggest Challenge of President Obama's Second Term President Obama took the oath of office from Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. at the official swearing-in ceremony in the Blue Room of the White House on Sunday President Barack Obama will once again, be sworn into office of the President before the American people on January 21, 2013 (He was officially sworn in on January 20, 2013). This celebration of President Obama is an opportunity for us to also realize the accomplishments of the President in a hostile political climate,  and  recognize areas in which he miserably failed, particularly for college students, and the people in the African American community. Above all the challenges he will face in his 2nd term, the biggest will be his ability to lead. Imagine for a moment, had President Obama not had his stimulus plan, had Osama bin Laden not been killed, had the powers entitled to him as commander in chief not been dramatically increased, had Guantanamo bay been closed, had the Supreme Court of The United States ruled his Affordable Care Act unconstitutional. These are some realities of a country that prior to President Obama’s election in 2008, was experiencing its greatest financial crises since the Great Depression, entrenched in one of the most painful wars in recent memory. All of the aforementioned battles point to the importance of President Obama’s leadership. While criticism could be logged against President Obama on any of the battles, or his positions on policy, it is irrefutable that he has led this country with precision accuracy. As the effects of new legislation and policy begin to take full shape over the next couple of years, the challenge for President’s Obama’s lies is in his ability to lead a divided c ountry. Some would argue that this is the most significant mandate for President Obama for his 2nd term. The margin of error for President Obama was incredibly narrow over the course of his 1st  term. We have seen over the past 4 years, a consistent attempt to identify any policy or legislation pursued by President Obama and his supporters in Congress, as a failure. Amid tumultuous battles between Republicans and Democrats in Congress, success was the only option for President Obama. Anything short of his promises coming into fruition, would lead to an inevitable characterization of his time in office as a failure, and a 2nd  term as an unnecessary risk for the American people. Because of his steadfast pursuit of policies he promised for the American people, President Obama is being sworn into office for the second time. With that, comes a mandate to lead the United States through the upcoming battles that will persist. The effectiveness of his leadership is more important than ever. The discussions of the national debt and his pursuit of any reform will get the most national attention.   Not to mention the debate, and any subsequent policy or legislation on weapon bans and illegal immigration. President Obama must lead, as he has done before, finding a way to promote effective cooperation on the part of his constituents in Congress. In the background of the national discussions however, lie several groups in the population that will surely demand their voices be heard. Is it out of the realm of possibility that students could stage a nationwide protests due to high tuition costs? Should these students rise up to produce some sort of social movement, President Obamas leadership would surely be tested. It would be in times like those, where the rapport he has established with members of congress would be so crucial. Would the legislative branch of government be in a position to produce any form of change? The leadership President Obama provides will speak directly to that. Furthermore, should those in the African-American community speak a little louder about the stark contrast in unemployment rates, how would President Obama’s leadership rank? As with several of the issues hindering the black community, the issue is systemic; the issue is institutional. Will President Obama successfully lead our nation towards making sure the plight of certain groups is brought to the forefront of the national discussion? The issues are complicated. The routes he has to navigate will also prove to be cumbersome. The burden on President Obama however is simple. Lead the United State of America. Lead with conviction, promote cooperation, and with an awareness of the plight of groups in our country. Without his leadership, and effective decision making, the country will etch towards an entirely divided one. Those looking for answers, will continue to feel ignored unless he is able to unify our country. As President Obama embarks second term, the aforementioned are all worth considering under the guise of how he will lead. If his 1st  term was any indication, he will find a way.

Two Dislocation Chemistry - An Important Tool For Every Scientist

Two Dislocation Chemistry - An Important Tool For Every ScientistThe double displacement chemistry is a science in which two dissimilar chemicals are separated and released at the same time by opening an ionic surface. This process happens under the influence of magnetic fields. The application of these technologies is very important as it makes use of high energy density to generate chemical power.Hydrogen gas is mixed with H2O or H2O2 then placed under a vacuum and this combination is expelled from the nozzle when pressure is applied. The plasma is separated from the solid particles on a metal plate in a process called Faraday ring separation. Once these conditions are met, the flow of both gases is transferred between the plates. The product is an ionic solution which becomes electrically charged upon separation.Double displacement processes are very common and it is used in many industries. These processes are also applied in medical sciences and the engineering industries. The f ields of electronics, healthcare, chemistry, biology, agriculture, and various other sectors depend on the use of double displacement processes for the fabrication of chemicals. The products are important for various applications. The double displacement can be done in two ways. One is magnetic materials and the other is the thermal separation of liquids. In the magnetic process, the heating of the liquid by the presence of high temperature and the magnetic field takes place. It is known that the magnetic field changes the electron orbitals thus taking off electrons from the liquid and thus creating a new orbit to produce ions. These processes are very simple and they do not require any special methods for production. However, the high temperatures at which the process occurs can damage the materials and there are many safety precautions that need to be taken to prevent damage. The electrical devices take form in different forms and hence the process can also be performed using these p rocesses. These devices include the computers, cellular phones, etc. These devices are found in many commercial houses and hence the work to be done cannot be done by other methods. The use of double displacement chemistry is very important as it makes use of high energy density to generate chemical power. The devices can be easily used by common people as well as the experts.
